Parasyte (Kiseijuu) - Manga

So recently I've been trying to read some more manga and thus, the other day I finished the terrific manga Parasyte aka Kiseijuu. This is a manga I will strongly recommend to anybody who likes their manga a bit meaningful and deep. It is only 10 volumes (64 Chapters). The manga is classified as a horror but, while it's a bit creepy, I found it more paranormal than horror.

So the story revolves around a teenage boy in highschool, Izumi Shinichi who gets a parasite 'attached' to him. Normally the parasites would go for the head and take over their host but Shinichi manages to prevent that and the parasite takes his right arm. There are many parasites in the world who each have different personalities, however most of them have their own life as a priority, a theme which is explored in this manga. Lucky for Shinichi, his parasite shows traits of being curious rather than violent, thus they grow a bond and fight together.

I won't spoil any more of the plot of this short manga but I will say that some of the themes explored are based around the idea that 'why should humans have the right to kill animals but not other humans', 'how humans are destroying the environment', 'who deserves to live?' and other deep themes such as that.

Some pages and possibly a few minor spoilers.

Conclusion
I gave this manga a great score because I feel that it's very deserving of it, 9.8/10.  The manga is interesting and fun to read, gripping and with good art work. However the amazing part is that, at the same time, it manages to tell a great story about humanity. Do give it a read.

All the other torrent sites seem to have no seeds but if you find one, please let me know, I'll put it here.
I also hear it is on #Lurk @ Irchighway.net so you might be able to grab it off there.

  1. I just might read this. I'm not much for manga, but this intrigue seems pretty interesting with it's ethical questions. Thanks for the headsup!
