Infinite Stratos:
Winter 2010
12 episodes
Genre: Mecha, harem, sci-fi
And onto the review:
The Plot
Well yes, I think there was actually a plot, sort of.
So the anime is based around the fact that our MC, a guy, can pilot an Infinite Stratos (exoskeleton mecha fighting robot thing) that previously only girls were able to pilot. This results in our main character being placed in a school for learning how to fight with the IS filled with girls, generic harem ensues.
Gradually throughout the anime the main character Ichika Orimura gains a gathering of girls who are all infatuated with him, yet Ichika is an absolute bonehead and doesn't realize any of this, where have we seen that before?
So basically stuff happens in the school with robots and fighting and generic harem stuff, and then occasionally the plot decides to peek its head out and a big robot enemy or something will appear.
The Ending (Spoilers yo)
So at the end there's a big enemy and they all work together to defeat it, surprise surprise. However the thing that did surprise me was how horrible and retarded that battle was. While the other fight scenes in this anime have been pretty good, this grand finale was actually horrible. So then after the fight scene there's some plot wrap up that seemed too rushed. Although it seems that Ichika finally chooses a girl which was surprising given how oblivious he was.
To Sum Up
Yeah, it was a good anime, I enjoyed watching it and even though the ending was yet another let down for the season, it wasn't nearly as bad as any of the other endings that season provided. If you like mecha and robots fighting, then sure check it out, as long as you don't mind retard harem romance with the age old guy-really-popular-for-no-given-reason (On that note however I can see that there is somewhat of a reason to like this guy, being the only guy in the school.). That said, if you like harem as well, then definitely check it out, it's rather funny for its genre.
Score: 7/10
P.S. Favorite girl? Mine was Charlotte.
okkkk I liked the plot so I didn´t read 'the ending' part because I want to see it, the screenshot looks cool.
ReplyDeleteFrom your screen shot are they in mecha armor, because that's silly. Mecha armor. XD
ReplyDeleteWell, yes that's pretty much it Pawa. It's sort of an exoskeleton thing but it has shielding and weaponry etc. I don't know why they chose to leave the pilot exposed and just use energy to shield them... But anything goes.
ReplyDeleteaww man I'll check it out, but mechas are all about how much they can take the screen of, not characters in mecha armor =(
ReplyDeleteI love these series. A 7 is waay to low in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a pretty good show
ReplyDeleteSounds nice, i'll have a look
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting watch, thanks!
ReplyDeletelooks like a promising show, thanks bro
ReplyDeleteI'll check this out, though I probably shouldn't because I'll just get stuck with it xD
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty good yeah, nice review :)
ReplyDeleteCharles was my favorite. I didn't like how it wrapped up either, and the bunny girl seemed too much of a forced character. She didn't really fit into the story at all other than to serve as a cop out for a plot.
ReplyDeleteShe orchestrated the entire thing to make her sister look good and the world a fun place? Huh?
It was still fun to watch though.
where to watch it?
ReplyDelete>Favorite girl? Mine was Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteI thought she was everyone's favorite.
this looks freaking badass
ReplyDeleteanime Star Wars? :D nice
ReplyDeleteA lot of 7 out of 10s from you, eh? But as a mecha fan, I should look into this...
ReplyDeletenice review and great info! i wouldnt mind watching this show at all!
ReplyDeleteNice post man, not seen this one yet
ReplyDeletecompletely agree with your review.
ReplyDeleteI just the first episode...I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the action scenes as much as you did. I hate it when they mix in dialogue in them and it feels like the action is "delayed". Like when they scream "NOW!!!" or something similar.
ReplyDeleteI still enjoyed it for the harem comedy though. Something about it was very entertaining. Charlotte was my favorite too.
@R.C Good point, I find it hard to rate things under a 6 because that's generally what I rate things I don't enjoy but can generally see as pretty good. I'm really bad at rating anime because I just rate it on my enjoyment level, however my ratings are getting sort of messed up now because I'm trying to be better.
ReplyDelete@Cpt. Yeah I actually preferred the harem comedy part of it, the action scenes seemed kind of stupid sometimes, but mostly they were alright.
@Kami, I agree with you, that bunny girl character and the plot cop out was a bit forced and kinda made the whole thing not as good, it's a shame.
neeto!
ReplyDeleteIt seems silly but fun, I'll check it out
ReplyDeletestill trying to get this spiral series. <3 Be well... gah so much work in my life hard to check blogs and be really on top of them
ReplyDeleteI find it really difficult to get into these type of series, I find the entire Mecha sub-category of Anime pretty awful for the most - Even Gundam slips past me these days without attracting any interest.
ReplyDeleteHave recently finished watching Cross Game - Amazing series. Now onto One Piece, from the very beginning *daunting* (never watched a single episode)
Thanks for the review though Claude - I'm sure you might have struck a chord with a few enthusiasts out there
@Mike, I normally don't like mecha in general but if the anime is actually good only having mecha in it, then I do like it. I've never watched a Gundam series myself. The thing I like about this series is mostly the harem comedy.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with One Piece, many people diss it but I suppose I can't say anything without watching it myself, it truly is daunting looking to start such a long anime, I feel the same way with Gintama.
@Inhia, what is this spiral series you're talking about? If it's something I mentioned do you mean Fractale? Otherwise all I can think of is TTGL.
Classic, gonna check it out for sure.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with mecha anime after Evangelion (clique I know, so I'll be checking this out!
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily a good "mecha," but it's an all rounder, with a bit of everything. Fave is Houki
