First of all I apologise for going as long as I have without making any posts, I wish I could say I was caught up doing something productive but realistically I've just been slacking off.
One manga I have been reading lately is The World God Only Knows.
So you may have experience with the anime version of TWGOK which currently has two seasons aired. The manga (and anime of course) is about a boy who is known as the king of capturing girls, in games of course. He is roped into helping hell capture real girls. That's a pretty simple synopsis so you'll have to read it (or watch it) to understand.
However, what I want to talk about here is the manga, there are currently 153 chapters released in 11 volumes. After I watched the anime for this I was hesitant to read the manga because I thought I'd be just reading the same stuff, to be honest, I was pretty much right. It seemed to me however that the anime actually went into more detail than the manga on each characters ark. The main thing that is very good about the manga though is once it surpasses what the anime has done so far. After that point it seemed to me that it got incredibly awesome and full of actual plot.
The whole plot element of goddesses is added to the manga and suddenly everything is pretty amazing. In my opinion this manga is getting pretty entertaining and you should check it out. If you've seen the anime then just skim read through the volumes, it's hard to say where to start because the transition between end of series 2 and what's new is somewhat blurred.
I suppose that's enough for now, I'll be posting about more manga I've read lately soon, if I can motivate myself to do so that is.

World's End - Game
Yesterday I was bored and somehow came across some very interesting music on Youtube. The song I found was The Offering Inferno - World's end girlfriend. I wound up downloading the album that this song was a part of, Seven Idiots, and the main thought going through my head was that I'd love to be able to use it as a soundtrack to a game, specifically an odd abstract game.
So I made one. Over the next day I worked on making this simplistic game and now it is complete I bring it to you.

AnoHana (Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai) - Anime
Well I finished this series a while ago, I did my laughing I did my bawwing and then I forgot to do my blogging.
AnoHana is a cute anime of only 11 episodes, I would call it a drama and mainly explores themes of nostalgia and coping with the trauma from the loss of a loved one.

Onani Master Kurosawa - Manga
Today I bring you an amazing manga recommendation that you really should read. Onani Master Kurosawa, aka Masturbation Master Kurosawa is a terrific manga that is full of an extremely meaningful story about life. Please don't be put off by the name Masturbation Master Kurosawa because it is not childish, ecchi or playful. This manga does in fact feature masturbation as a key aspect but it does so in a mature and meaningful way, this is not a manga to get off to.

Dragon Ball - Manga
Dragon ball, an anime or manga that I'm sure everybody has heard of, finally I got around to reading it myself. Prior to my reading I had a very limited experience with Dragon Ball, the anime dubbed in mornings while I was young, I never watched it, it scared me, particularly seeing the only parts I had seen where Piccolo growing back an arm and Boo being Boo. So I decided that I'd read the manga and gee, I'm very glad I did.

To Love-Ru - Manga
So it's been exam week and I haven't been making any posts lately so, for that I apologise and in return I bring you a review on a manga I read a while back, To Love-ru.
Details
Quite simply To Love-ru is an ecchi filled romance with some complexities and makes quite an entertaining read either for the ecchi or for the complex romance.
Length: 162 chapters in 18 volumes (yet a surprisingly fast read)
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Ecchi, Sci-Fi, Harem, School

Best anime this season - Part 1
2011 spring, an excellent season for anime with many great shows to watch. Honestly I find it somewhat hard to choose some of the best out of the 21 shows I am watching this season.
The 'must watch' anime
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.
AnoHana is about a group of childhood friend who as growing up and after the tragic incident of Menma's death as a child have drifted apart. The main character Jintan has secluded himself to the life of a hikikomori after these events of his childhood and the death of his mother, his father is helpless in the situation and believes he should choose his own path. The dead Menma appears in front of Jintan often and wants him to grant him her wish. The show is about bringing together childhood friends and how people change over time. This anime is rather depressing and is done really well, I love depressing anime and this show is terrific. The show is being fansubbed by Doki here.

Lollipop Eater X - A challenge to Touhou players
Pop returns to his home planet and is sent on one last mission... a mission that could determine the fate of his entire race... |
This game, Lollipop Eater X is a "simple" side scrolling shooter created by DSX. I put simple in quotation marks because while the game is somewhat buggy and pretty simple in theory, the game is actually incredibly well planned and executed, it's also FUCKING HARD!

A birthday shoutout, online friends & making music.
Happy Birthday Brendan Hodkinson!
Hope you have a good one ;)
Online friends
Many people will say that the friends you make online are not real friends, that you should never meet you, they might rape you or something, etc. However, I have one specific friend, living on the other side of the country, who is a terrific mate.
I met him first in a small game I used to play Urban Terror something like 3 years ago probably. Come to think of it, I actually made lots of friends I'm still in contact with in Urban Terror, the community in that game was honestly terrific.
Presently Brendan is a great friend who always plays games with me, we mostly play BC2 and Minecraft but we have shared experiences in many games.
Thus I have to say, it is possible to find a true friend online.
Making music
Brendan is into doing mixes and for my birthday this month, he created a brifdehdubstepsurprize just for me. I felt honored so I decided I'd make one back for him. (Realising it would be shitty being my first time)
This is Brendan's mix that he made here:

And this is the mix that I made, Brendan Burfdeh Mix
Happy Birthday Chuck by claude-smith

About my mix: I'm aware that the mix I made here is probably horrible but whatever, I gave it a shot right?
So the main thing that may be interesting in what I did with this mix is that I ripped audio from some anime and movies to create samples which I used in the mix.
Please remember this is my first mix, I'm not claiming it's good or anything, I wouldn't release this to the public if it wasn't for Brendan's birthday.
Hope you have a good one ;)

Parasyte (Kiseijuu) - Manga
So recently I've been trying to read some more manga and thus, the other day I finished the terrific manga Parasyte aka Kiseijuu. This is a manga I will strongly recommend to anybody who likes their manga a bit meaningful and deep. It is only 10 volumes (64 Chapters). The manga is classified as a horror but, while it's a bit creepy, I found it more paranormal than horror.

Ultimate Soundtr/a/ck
The Ultimate Soundtr/a/ck is something I discovered only a few months ago even though the whole project started around mid 2008. This 'Ultimate Soundtr/a/ck' is a large group of soundtracks with anime songs such as openings, fight battles, endings etc. As far as I am aware, this is the most comprehensive and best collection of such songs. This is because they are selected songs that are good or memorable, much better than getting an OST filled with songs you don't remember and instrumentals you don't care for.

You want my first impression? "Oh wow this is awesome!" There you go. So anyway, I finally got to play Portal 2 and I decided that wow, this is hilarious, I must write a post about how awesome this is and how you guys should get it. But then I played the game for another few hours...

Nyan
http://nyan.cat/ |
I'm not sure if I should hate you or not Mike for posting this here but I've been listening to this for well over 9000 seconds (10725.1 Seconds to be exact, that's almost 3 hours). I would have listened to it more but I really want to watch the latest Hanasaku Iroha and this nyaa-ing is somewhat overpowering.
Can you beat my record?
PS. It feels awfully quiet now that I've stopped it, this is weird.

Spring 2011 - First Impressions (A-Channel, Dog Days, Hanasaku Iroha, Hen Zemi, Hidan no Aria, Kaiji 2, Nichijou, TWGOK2)
So, I finally got into watching some of the anime I had planned to watch this season, it took me a while because I was trying to decide on fansub groups but finally the season has begun for me.

Portal and Valve
So I played the entirety of Portal 1 again today seeing as Portal 2 is coming out in about 75 hours and what I discovered/remembered was that Portal 1 is a really short game, it took me around an hour to complete it playing normally. However even during that quick playthrough I remembered how good the game was, story/gameplay/graphics/everything, and this told me two things, that 1) games don't have to be long to be good (Portal 1 has been speedran under 10 mins), and 2) Valve really knows how to make games.

So I just finished watching this anime which was airing this winter season, and it's the first thing I've finished of the season so I figured I'd do a quick blog post about it.

Shimeji
Shimeji, the little critters seen running all over the place on this desktop.
It's almost like they're invading me as if you leave one there long enough it will duplicate itself with a cute little animation, for example on the right hand monitor link is about to pull another link out of that chest.
Now these things are horrible if you want to concentrate as you'll be tossing them off the edges of your monitor so you can access buttons etc. and of course you'll just find yourself throwing them around just coz it's cool.
However, they're pretty cool and you can get a lot of different skins for them.

America's Greatest Otaku / Steaming Pile of ...
My God.
I could leave this blog post as just that and it would probably sum up my feelings pretty well but I suppose I should explain this to you guys.
America's Greatest Otaku, is an American TV show where they go around doing extremely anime-nerdy shit and instead of making the phrase Otaku more accepted as they are trying to do, "Otaku is not a derogatory word!" (they keep claiming), they are putting the word to shame with the kinds of people on the show.
